Introduction

Resource Management and Rural Empowerment Centre (REMREC), established in 1998, is one of the leading member based non-governmental organisations (NGO) with the primary aim of contributing to sustainable national development. The main focus of REMREC is to promote social, political, economic and cultural equity and to improve access to resources and services for disadvantaged and marginalised sections of society in line with inclusive democracy.

Originally, REMREC started social mobilisation initiatives through the management of sustainable energy systems but later expanded to include other community development programmes. Since its inception REMREC has been working in close collaboration with different development partners in the country and is a member of World Association of Non-Governmental Organization (WANGO), CIVICUS: World Alliance for Citizen Participation amongst others. REMREC works as a Regional Renewable Energy Service Centre (RRESC) as part of the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre’s (AEPC) plan to promote decentralized renewable energy options.

REMREC is registered at Kavrepalanchok District Administration Office (Registration Number 411/055/56) under the Organization Registration Act 2034 of Nepal and is also affiliated to the Social Welfare Council.
